This is a Tryptic of three watercolor sketches... each of the images 6x6" and all three are signed individually as a limited edition Giclee of 100. They can be framed together, or cut apart and framed separately, each already signed and numbered individually. The total print size is 10x24".
These three watercolors came right out of my illustrated journal from my annual hike with my dad, in 08 this was in the ADK High Peaks in New York. It was my dad's first trip to the High Peaks, and it was an honor to guide him up my favorite peaks since he and my mother had paid for my wilderness training here for three summers when I was age 14-16. Here I was 12 years later teaching my father the hiking skills and showing him the highlights of my young adulthood. My dad Mark graciously waiting (or slept) several times a day while I whipped out my watercolors and would capture a vista, sunset, or memorable place. These are the three full size paintings from the journal, though there were many smaller ones, and they all are located around Colden Mountain: "Avalance Lake" is at the foot of the mountain in the valley shared with Alconquin, we stopped here for lunch just before crossing the amazing foot bridges and RUNNING up Alconquin in the setting sun. "From Colden Dam", the third image, is from the next morning's sunrise looking back down the valley towards Avalanche Lake "From Colden Dam". We had slept on this end of the lake looking at this vista during the sunset the night before. "Colden Rock", the central image is from the next day, just after my dad and I had the adventure highlight of our trip scaling the Colden Rock Slide (facing Mt. Marcy) up through the stream bed. This rock, Lord have mercy, perches over Avalanche Pass like a threatening judgement of the gods.
